HEARING LOSS ORGANIZATIONS
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (ASHA)
mission is to ensure that all people with speech, language, and hearing
disorders have access to quality services to help them communicate
effectively. On ASHA’s Web site, www.asha.org, there is information to help you
understand communication and communication disorders as well as a referral
service.

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf
and Hard of Hearing
The Alexander Graham Bell
Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a membership-based information
center on hearing loss, emphasizing the use of technology, speech,
speechreading, residual hearing, and written and spoken language. A.G. Bell focuses specifically on children
with hearing loss, providing ongoing support and advocacy for parents,
professionals, and other interested parties.

American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck
Surgery (AAO-HNS)
AAO-HNS is a nonprofit
association that strives to unite, serve, and represent the interests of ear,
nose, and throat specialists and their patients to the public, government,
other medical specialists, and related organizations.

American Tinnitus Association
The mission of the ATA is to
silence tinnitus through education, advocacy, research, and support. This nonprofit organization provides the
latest information and resources to tinnitus patients, promotes tinnitus
awareness to the general public and the medical community, and funds the
nation’s brightest tinnitus researchers.

Association for Late-Deafened Adults (ALDA), Inc.
The ALDA serves as a resource
center providing information and referrals, self-help, and support groups for
people deafened as adults. ALDA works
to increase public awareness of the special needs of deafened adults.

Cochlear Implant Association Inc. (CIAI)
CIAI is a nonprofit organization
that provides information and support to cochlear implant users, health
professionals, and the general public.
CIAI distributes educational materials, organizes national and international
meetings and conventions, promotes cochlear implant technology and deafness
research, and advocates on all governmental levels for the rights and services
of people who have impaired hearing.

Center for Hearing and Communication
The Center offers people who are
hard of hearing or deaf access to diagnostic, rehabilitation, counseling, and
education programs. The mission of the
nonprofit agency is to improve the quality of life for people with all degrees of
hearing loss and to offer comprehensive services regardless of age or mode of
communication.
