HEARING LOSS AND YOU

Do you think you have a hearing loss?  About 10 percent of the general population has some degree of hearing loss.  You may have noticed that life isn’t as enjoyable as it used to be. Sometimes you feel left out or isolated even when you are surrounded by people and activities.

If your family or friends think you have trouble hearing, check the following list.

§        You have stopped attending social activities you used to enjoy

§        You hear but cannot understand people talking

§        You pretend to understand in order not to look foolish

§        You accuse others of mumbling

§        You don’t hear television when it is a comfortable volume for others

§        You understand people better when they face you

If any of the above matches your experience, you may have hearing loss.  A thorough diagnostic evaluation of your hearing will determine the extent of your hearing loss and what, if any, treatment will be best for you.
